Cases: Mar 08 35 year old afro-american female submitted with flulike symptoms with fever, headache, arthralgia and muscle soreness. Clinical findings of widespread maculo-papular eruption on the truncus and palmo-plantar. No visible mucosa signs and no further history available.
Which diagnose should be suspected and which diagnostic tests should be performed?

Roseola (secundary syphilis = Lues II)
Symptoms of secondary syphilis takes place 8-12 weeks postinfectional showingreddish macular exanthema (roseola syphilititica) localized to the lateral aspects of truncus and extensor sides of the extremities. Maculo-papular eruptions palmo-plantar are patognomonic. Hairloss and mucosa affections may occur. Likewise neurological symptoms, uveitis and painful osteitis.
Diagnostic: Treponema organisms may be detected directly from the eruptions or from lymphnode aspiration.
Antibodies VRDL, ART, FTA-ABS and antiflagel IgG are all positive. Lumbal fluid examination is requested to rule out neurosyphilis.
